How it works

Learning is a path, not a question.

ALMA follows the whole path — from what you tried to the next topic — and changes how Maya helps as it unfolds.

A learner with a backpack walks through a field of pale blue flowers toward a winding river in the hills.

Four steps, repeated

  1. Understand

Maya starts from what you tried, and asks before she tells.

  2. Adapt

The help changes with how it is going — see below.

  3. Practice

A similar problem, solved on your own.

  4. Grow

Progress is tracked by topic, over time.

How the help changes

These are fixed rules in ALMA, not guesses about you:

  • Stuck again

    Smaller steps.

  • Frustrated

    More support.

  • On a roll

    More challenge.

What Maya can and cannot do

Maya can

  • Ask what you tried before explaining
  • Turn a mistake into the next step
  • Break a step into smaller ones when you’re stuck again
  • Give a similar problem to practise

Maya cannot

  • Be a counselor — she is a math teacher
  • Promise she is never wrong — she is an AI and can make mistakes
