Privacy Policy — Maya (ALMA)

Version 1.1 · Last updated: October 2026 · עברית

Notice: This document was written in good faith, based on how the system actually works, but it has not yet had a full legal review. This is a translation of the Hebrew policy; if the two differ, the Hebrew version governs. For specific legal questions, please contact your school principal.

Who we are

Maya (ALMA) is an AI-based private tutor for learning mathematics. The service is intended for students, parents/guardians, teachers and schools. Many of our users are minors, and we take their privacy especially seriously.

What information we collect

  • Profile details: full name, email address, grade, school.
  • Learning conversations: the content of your messages with Maya, so she can remember what you have learned and adapt her explanations.
  • Progress data: which topics you practised, correct/incorrect answers, practice time, and your level of mastery in each topic.
  • Consents and settings: which consents you gave and when, and language/gender preferences so we address you correctly.

How we use the information

The information is used only for the following purposes: running the service (personalised teaching), tracking progress for you and your teacher, and keeping you safe.

Use of artificial intelligence: to provide teaching, the content of your conversations is sent to an external language-model provider (Google Gemini) to generate the responses. We do not control the external provider's privacy policy for the data it processes, but we do not send it any information beyond what is needed to produce the response.

Who can see your information

  • You: full access to your information through your profile and the privacy page.
  • Teachers at the same school: access to progress, mastery data and full conversation transcripts — for educational and safety follow-up.
  • A linked parent/guardian: access to a progress summary only (mastery percentages, trends, achievements) — without conversation transcripts and without raw frustration scores. A parent link is created only after verifying that the account's email address matches the address the student provided.
  • The school principal: full access to the information of the school's students, for management and support.

Safety and content monitoring

The system scans messages automatically (with no artificial intelligence involved in the detection step) for signs of distress, self-harm, or harm by another person. If such a sign is found, a teacher and/or the school principal receive an alert to review it, according to how serious the sign is. This is an important part of our responsibility to you.

Children's privacy (under 13)

For students in grades 1–7 (approximate ages 6–13), the system requires a verified parent link or the school principal's approval before use begins, in line with children's privacy principles. A parent/guardian may at any time review, export, or request deletion of their child's information.

Data retention and deletion

Information is kept for as long as the account is active. You can request full deletion at any time through the privacy page. A full deletion request deletes the learning history, conversations and related data. Safety records and audit records may be kept for an additional period for legal reasons, even after the rest of the information is deleted.

You can request and receive a copy of your information (except conversation transcripts, which are available on separate request through the school principal, and safety records kept for legal reasons).

Enquiries through the public website

When you leave your details in a form on almatutor.com (the waiting list, a classroom demo request, a school enquiry or a school introduction), we keep only what was entered in the form: your email address and, if filled in, your name, role, school, city and message. We also keep the type of enquiry, the site language, and, where required, your confirmation that you are 18 or older.

The details are stored in ALMA's enquiries database and emailed to the team, and are used only to get back to you and keep you updated on what you asked about. We do not store your IP address or device data with the enquiry, and we do not pass the details to third parties for marketing. The service providers that process this information for us: Supabase (storage), Resend (email delivery) and Vercel (website hosting and bot protection).

The forms are intended for people aged 18 or older and for school staff. To have your details deleted from the database, email support@almatutor.com.
